University Card Update Universally Criticised

The new design for the University of York’s University Card has proved controversial among many students. The previous design was widely loved by the student population due to the wistful picture of a duck and the fact it looked like it had been designed by a five year old in Microsoft Paint. The new design has proven far less popular.

“I can understand using a picture of Central Hall,” Chemistry student Jeremy Gangmower told The Lemon Press. “But why show the Hub? Most students will never go to Heslington East and see it. As for the image in the middle, I’m fairly certain that’s in Cambridge.”

Others have been critical of the decision to give the new cards an age, potentially allowing them to be used for ID. “I used to be able to blag my way into Willow with the old one,” 14 year old child prodigy and PHD student Roseanna Berkley. “Now I’ll just have to synthesise my own alcohol in my personal distillery”.

The Lemon Press reached out to the Duck that used to grace the front of our University Cards, but unfortunately without a picture to reference him with we couldn’t quite figure out which of the thousands of ducks on campus he was.
